The 2009 Fan Club Convention took place in Paris and
Chantilly from September 11 to 14. It was a huge success
- simply magnifique thanks to our organiser Francis
Charrière. The itinerary included a visit to the Chateau of
Chantilly, a horse show, a river cruise dinner by night on
the river Seine, passing the lit Eiffel Tower and many other
places of interest, a visit to Montmarte, Champs Elysées
and much more. THE highlight of the Convention,
however, was a concert on Saturday afternoon by the
orchestra, in which Francis plays trombone. It was titled
HOMMAGE À RAY CONNIFF, and began with a tune
titled “Fanfare for Conniff Fans” - written by Perry La
Marca. On Sunday the song was practised and taped by
the participants, who came from the USA, Russia,
England, Wales, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and
Germany.
