The 2009 Convention
The 2009 Fan Club Convention took place in Paris and Chantilly from September 11 to 14. It was a huge success - simply magnifique thanks to our organiser Francis Charrière. The itinerary included a visit to the Chateau of Chantilly, a horse show, a river cruise dinner by night on the river Seine, passing the lit Eiffel Tower and many other places of interest, a visit to Montmarte, Champs Elysées and much more. THE highlight of the Convention, however, was a concert on Saturday afternoon by the orchestra, in which Francis plays trombone. It was titled HOMMAGE À RAY CONNIFF, and began with a tune titled “Fanfare for Conniff Fans” - written by Perry La Marca. On Sunday the song was practised and taped by the participants, who came from the USA, Russia, England, Wales, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and Germany. September 19: There are more than 400 photographs in an internet photo album, which can be watched by clicking on the screen shot on the left or here. Just click on any photograph to start a slide show. The photo collection contains photos taken by Claudine, Mike, Serge, Anne, and Manfred. September 25: Photos by Ingo Stein added. If you want to learn more details of the 2009 Convention, please click here for my report (added September 27). The photographs shown here were taken by Anne, Francis’s wife.
